How does it work?

If you have designer pieces which are freshly cleaned and pressed, in nearly-new condition without marks or damage, and not over about two seasons old, then bring them in to us and we will have a look through.

We accept items for re-sale 7 days a week, any time between 10am and 5pm Monday–Saturday and 11am and 4pm on Sundays. We can usually have a look through and price things with you while you wait, but at busy times, you may need to leave things with us to sort through and then we will contact you within 24 hours.

The shop is always extremely limited for space so sadly we can’t take everything that we are offered, please don’t take it personally if we can’t accept all of your items. As mentioned above, the criteria is that things are designer or high-end labels in nearly-new condition with no marks or damage and not over 2 years old (unless they’re vintage). They also need to be seasonally appropriate for the time of year. We accept clothes, handbags, shoes, jewellery and accessories.

No fakes!

We are very strict about all of our stock being genuine and authentic, we do not accept copies. Please bring confirmation of authenticity for designer handbags. If we have any doubt then the item will not be accepted. If an item we’re selling is found to be fake, it will be disposed of.

Pricing

We will talk through and agree the pricing together, but as a general rule of thumb, you can expect to get back 10–25% of what the item was worth originally.

We obviously want to achieve a good return for the item for both of us, but we also want to succeed in selling it, so it’s important to strike the right balance with valuing the item. The highest price we can get for something in the shop is around half of it’s original retail price. The valuation depends on condition, how recently it was purchased, original price, demand for and general saleability of the item.

Our regular commission rate is 50% (and unfortunately we have to add VAT onto our half) but we can occasionally make exceptions and reduce our commission for something special. This is something we can negotiate together.

Your items are put out for sale for 8 weeks, reducing after 6 weeks by 25% if they haven’t sold. Things are often put on our website and social media platforms as well as the shop but this it at our discretion — unfortunately we can only list a select number of items.

Payments

Payments for sold items can be made any time on request, but generally, arrangements are made to make payments at the end of the 8 weeks. This can be done in several ways: cash (up to £50), cheque, BACS transfer, or it can be used as credit to buy something in the shop.

Unsold items need to be collected after the allotted two months but we do rely on you to let us know so please do call us to claim your clothes and money so we can have it all prepared for you. Unfortunately, with so little storage, items that aren’t claimed do have to automatically go to charity, but money owed can be claimed at any time.
